As long as prophet Mohammad life, he never asks to God to give him wealth. Whereas if he wants, God can gives him wealth of the world in only a blink of eyes.
God also has ever offered him wealth but Mohammad is always asking and praying "Please give me and our family a simply things just only for fulfill our need. When I am hungry I pray to You. When I am full I thank to you,".
If there is no food, Mohammad doing fasting. Even he hold on his hunger with bind stone on his stomach. If there are foods, he gives to people need more than him.
The spoils from the war that he won, he share to his soldiers. Until his wives grumble to him because as wives of The Messenger, they want and need more spoils.
As a result of that, Mohammad wont scold at them and just leaves them and starts to solitude. Omar bin Khattab has ever told this story, "One of my friend met me and told there is a big news. He told me that Mohammad divorce with his wives," said him as quoted by room of love Mohammad book.
Omar come up to Mohammad, he check that news then Mohammad said "no!". This slender spread out after Mohammad doesn't met his wives for a month. God reproves him with Koran surah Al Azhab 28-34 that says,
"O prophet tell your wives: If you seek the world and embellishment then come and I will make some provision for you and release you in an honorable way. But if you seek Allah and His Messenger and the Abode of the Hereafter the surely Allah has prepared a great reward for these of you who do good,"
Mohammad come up to his wives, and read this surah. All his wives regret what they were doing and agree to keep beside Mohammad because they only want great reward from God.
